We are often asked similar questions by couples, so we made this page to answer some of the most common questions we receive. If you have additional questions, you can send us a message on our contact page.
Also be sure to check out some of our other articles that we have written to help our couples in planning their wedding:
Sadie & Kyle Photography operates as a DBA of Kyle Scharf Photography and is based out of Port Charlotte, FL. Originally Kyle Scharf Photography, we changed the name when Sadie joined full time for all weddings to reflect our status as a husband and wife photography team.
Kyle is self employed full time running three businesses under Kyle Scharf Photography. When Sadie is not shooting weddings and building wedding albums, she works part time as a receptionist.
Yes. As a husband and wife photography team, we both intend on being at each and every wedding we shoot. In the unlikely event one of us is unable to attend, we give the couple the option of a second photographer (hired on at our expense) or a discount for having a single photographer.
Yes, we are open to covering weddings anywhere, though we require destination weddings and events to be booked at least 6 months in advance so we can make proper arrangements.
No, there is no travel fee, but we do ask that the couple provides travel and lodging to and from the wedding if we need to fly or stay overnight. There are no travel fees for weddings in Florida, but we do ask for hotel reservations if we are more than an hour from home and the wedding ends after 11pm.
Yes, we are now providing free engagement sessions with all of our wedding packages. We believe this provides an excellent opportunity to work with our couples and make them comfortable being in front of our cameras. The images will be available for download from the website and included on your final USB with your wedding photos.
Kyle shoots with a Nikon D800 and a Nikon D700 with a 35mm and an 85mm lens while Sadie shoots with a Nikon D700 with a 24-70mm lens. Sadie also carries a backup Nikon D300 with her and sometimes we switch out lenses with an 80-200mm, 50mm, 24mm or a Lensbaby system. We also bring along 4 speed lights which we use for the reception or particularly difficult lighting situations during the portrait sessions.
In order to book, we require a signed contract with a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the wedding package. The balance is due no later than 14 days before the wedding.
We generally hand over at least 600 images, though sometimes we exceed this number. Rather than using this as a solid rule, we alow the wedding to dictate how many images we hand over. The bottom line? We give you the best of your wedding day, regardless of how many images that takes.
We currently shoot completely digital.
Yes, we believe that you should have the right to your images, so we don't hold them hostage. We give high resolution, finished images to our couples on a USB drive after the wedding day. In addition to your USB, we also provide a proofing page where the couple as well as their friends and family can download watermark-free, high resolution images to enjoy however you please.
Of course! You may do anything you want with your photos, but we do respectfully ask you to consider us when enjoying your photos in two ways. We just ask that you credit us when you post your images online and that you don't alter the images when crediting us.
We usually take about 4-6 weeks to finish a wedding, depending on our workflow. During slow periods, we may get your photos out faster.
Albums also take about 4-6 weeks to finish the first proof. We offer double proofing sessions where you can make two revisions when we send a design. After the second revision, we have a small fee for additional revisions. More on our album procedure can be seen here.
Our wedding packages start at $2000. For more information on booking, you can view our Investment page.
